The Face of Education in 2022: 3 Things to Look Forward
The last two years witnessed massive disruption in the education sector. The whole learning system underwent an extraordinary change in outlook and pedagogy. It has inevitably dawned that teaching and learning demand more than just facts and figures. Core competencies to develop skills of communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, digital literacy, and problem-solving are much needed to thrive in today’s world and to be ready for the unknown, unseen and unpredictable future.
Values are an important part of everyday life, and the more values you apply in life, the more life becomes better for you and others. ASPAM Indian International School, realizing the importance of values, has created lots of events, meetings, and clubs to promote values. The latest one is SHARES, a Club to promote six important values. Each letter of shares means a certain value.
“Everything is beautiful in winter. However, the UAE’s winter is the most beautiful in the world.”-HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Truly! Winter in the UAE is the finest season to explore the true spirit of the country. The nature is at its best with moderate temperature and the flora and fauna is in full bloom. These four precious months is the most-awaited time of the year to venture out and discover the beauty of this wonderful and most welcoming country.
An English proverb you might have heard of before. When two minds think and work together much greater results are gained.
Why is this? Because different minds have different ideas, but different out of the box ideas can be used to create an astounding outcome.
I was so excited! It was Camel back to Cadillac 2021. This is an interschool competition held by our school every year on the National Day of UAE. The topic for this year’s event is ‘Tell a Tale with a Picture’. One day I was sitting in class then my Arabic teacher had called me and said that I was short listed for the competition.
It was 7 a.m. on a chilly winter morning. As we waited for the school bus, I blew out a cloud of hot breath into the frigid air. Seeing this, my brother held an imaginary pipe in his palm and exhaled an even greater cloud of air. We giggled and repeated it again. This is one of the first memories that comes to mind when I recall my early winter days in the UAE.

Reading is a conversation. All books talk, but a good book listens as well
~ Mark Haddon
Reading. What a multi-meaningful word it is. It isn’t just scrutinizing at a page and keeping our mind blank, it is enjoying the bliss of each and every word. It is a pool welcoming anyone who wishes to dive inside. Jumping into the pool of words has too many benefits to count, I must tell you that. But it will only be noticed if we volunteer ourselves to dive. Just a small tug it is and we will be mesmerised in the sensation of drowning into words. And as a student, reading is equally important for studying.
The very meaning of the world expo is a large international exhibition, and UAE has again made an unbeatable feat with the expo 2020 Dubai. With 192 country pavilions, a host of signature and partnership pavilions, it certainly does leave no space for doubt for the ‘international’ part.
Covid-19 took a big part of our lives. It changed the whole world, and the way we lived. As we could not step out of the house due to the lockdown and pandemic, People could not go shopping, attend meetings and most importantly go to schools to study. The UAE education system suffered a lot during the beginning of the pandemic; they had to put up new ways to communicate through our devices using virtual platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft teams and etc. I would like to share some of my experiences and victories.
How to Cope Up with Emotional Changes During Puberty
Puberty is one of the most inevitable physical change in transition of a child to a teenager. Even though puberty is considered as a sign of a teenage, puberty in girls may occur around age of 10 and up and for boys, age of 11 and up. Both can have a delayed puberty as well. In this phase of development children experience physical, emotional, social, psychological changes.
The question is, are children emotionally ready for these changes?
It is important that children of ASPAM IIS – Schools in Sharjah should be made aware that puberty occurs naturally and this biological change happens in every human being and puts up various changes in the human body and mind. Creating awareness of these changes ahead will help to avoid emotional collapse and adjustment issues with the new bodily image.
During puberty, teenager shows intense emotions and strong feelings. These emotions may be overwhelming leading to breakdowns. Mood changes are also common in teenagers. Along with the hormonal changes, psychological changes also play a significant role in emotional breakdowns. The teenager works with their emotional brain rather than thinking brain. Because the thinking part of the brain is still developing, children find difficulty in regulating emotions, to think logically and to take rational decisions, and end up with irritation and frustration.
Here are some strategies to cope with emotional changes in puberty-
Parents and educators of CBSE schools in Sharjah, should make sure to provide puberty education when the child reaches middle school. It is also essential to teach them how it is related to physical, social, emotional, and psychological wellbeing. Provide with age-appropriate book so they can learn and explore more about their bodily changes. Encourage child to talk about their doubts and feeling related to puberty. Never hesitate to talk about sexual changes and feeling as it might feel awkward, always talk about it in a comfortable way. It is also important that the teenager learn and understand the social norms and age-related expectations to meet their personal, social, and academic goals. Parents and educators must make sure they have realistic expectation for the teenagers.
It is said that nothing will works if you are angry and hungry, give them time to calm down in difficult situations, never react as there will be always an opposite reaction. Respond to them, show empathy, and ensure you understand their feelings and emotions. Encourage them to have a healthy sleep routine and eating habits, advise exercise and yoga to regulate self and remain calm.
“Always keep in mind that we have all gone through this and you will also make it through.”
Keeping Your Children Safe and Sound at Home
Being a parent comes with a lot of responsibilities. But the major one is keeping our little ones safe. This is inclusive of all the dangers happening in the digital world we live in and causing physical hard and emotional stress.
Nevertheless, we can prevent the injuries by taking precautions in advance about the accidents which can occur anywhere, with anyone.
As important as your child’s safety is outside, safety at home needs to adhere to. A few important measures to keep in mind to ensure children’s safety at home are:
Child Safety at Home
According to research, the maximum number of accidents happens at home is between the age of 0-5. Children have the capacity and curiosity to learn very fast about the world around them. As soon as they learn to crawl and run around, they are also in danger of getting injured.
Ensure to have safety gates across entries to your balconies and gates. Apart from it, also keep a special eye on your child when he is learning to crawl or walk.
Be cautious about the various socket and plug points at your house. Baby proof all of them to avoid any kind of miss happening.
Pad the sharp corners of your home. Including all furniture as well.
Keep toxic and poisonous material away from the reach of your child. It is one of the reasons for children to get injured too.
Ensure that all your cleaning supplies, medicines, and other harmful stuff are kept far away from the reach of your child, if possible, it should be under lock and key.
Lastly, but most importantly, keep all the batteries and small electronic objects away from the reach of your child.
The fact is, every responsible parent is concerned about their children’s safety. Apart from keeping it safe and a secure environment at home, make sure the school follows a similar environment and take all precautions possible.
At the same time, kids need to socialize at a young age and be able to have a certain level of freedom to grow and develop independence.
The best nursery schools In Sharjah teaches children about finding a healthy balance, which can be tough, but if tried, can be achieved easily. There are various lessons taught about keeping themselves safe both at home and outside.
The good news from a few schools In sharjah is, you do not have to be around your child all the time. However, you can implement some basic safety rules for your children to abide by. This will help them become more aware of how they can protect themselves when you are not around.
How Role-Play Activities can Boost Child Development
What exactly role-play is? It is the application of knowledge and skills gained by a child by observing a given character or a given situation. In simple terms, it is the enactment of a different personality or behavior. Indian Schools in Sharjah specifically host such activities for three objectives- one is attitude development, second is knowledge acquisition and third is skills acquisition. All these contribute to a child’s holistic development and make them more sensible.
Alert Parents! Are your kids safe on the Internet? Yes, no, maybe?? We know you are not sure about this.
Internet is a huge ocean of information. You enter a query on Google, you get millions of results for that one query. But make sure that it’s not manipulating your child’s privacy who probably has medium knowledge about the internet.
We are living with a notion that this land is meant for us. We walk freely, we breathe freely, we utilize all natural and man-made resources freely. The so called sophisticated stylish, sea-view, jungle –view, high rise apartments are man-made concrete jungle snatched by humans from nature and animals. Most of our homes belong to nature and wild animals.
Yes, hard to believe this, ‘This Is The Bitter Truth!!!’ We have forced our Mother Nature and wild animals to ‘Self Quarantine’ themselves in a smaller area. We were and still are in a belief that this is the only path to progress and develop.
So now, at present, we here stand to face The Bitter Truth again!!! We can no more walk freely the way we did; we can no more hold each other’s hand the way we did, we can no more hug each other the way we did. Someone’s ‘Hello’ cannot be responded with a ‘Smile’ as ‘Smiles’ are hidden under the mask. Our face emotions which would speak volumes without a word spoken, now need words.
We just cannot give away our home back but yes, still we can unfold this Bitter Truth.
We can unfold This Bitter Truth by standing fearlessly against the damage towards our mother nature.
Making concrete jungles won’t make us a developed nation. Saving our home mother earth will surely make us a developed nation.

How to Stay Mentally Healthy during this COVID-19 Crisis
“The novel Coronavirus, COVID-19”
You have probably heard it at least 100 times a week by now. Because of something so small, almost the entire world and its components have stopped. It has been stressful for not only you and your household but for everyone in your country and the entire world. Everyone is tensed. Not only because of their work but also because of their relatives in other countries.
Parents play a significant role in the education process of their children. They always endeavour to provide the best education available to their children. For this, they put in a lot of hard work, efforts, and sacrifice and try to find the right school for their kids. But, while doing this, they undermine their role in the education of their children.
Nowadays, due to this pandemic virus going around the world, the schools, colleges and malls are being shut down. But thanks to the lockdown, the students are attending and experiencing the virtual classes online. Online and distance learning has steadily grown in popularity among all schools and college students and also helped many students to learn new skills without going to school or college. But due to the pandemic, it has left no option even for the tender ages from pre-school.
As all of us know that presently around the world, the impact of Covid-19 has led to the economy, health and financial crisis. We can reduce Covid-19’s impact by social distancing, washing hands regularly and practising respiratory hygiene. But here, I, being the student of one of the best Schools in Sharjah, would like to share a few thoughts about the positive impact of Covid 19 globally.
Technological advancements have revolutionized the way society functions. It has also introduced innovations in the field of education such as Virtual Reality (VR) for education, Cloud Computing for education, 3D Printing, etc. ASPAM IIS, one of the best Schools in Sharjah believes that E-class is one such innovation that attempts to make the learning process more efficient and interactive.
The world’s history is full of revolutions. People with a growth -mind-set had embraced the impact of each revolution positively. Unsure of whether they will make it or not, they gradually evolved through each of them to achieve greater heights. I have grown up listening to stories from grandparents, reading books, watching movies of such great revolutions and revolutionary individuals who contributed to them. I have been always appreciating them and wondering, where they got the courage to be such great fighters.
The question isn’t, “How do I teach this?” But, “How can they learn it?” – Jane Bozarth
It seems as if overnight teachers everywhere had to leave the comfort of their classrooms and focus on their laptop screens. In March 2020, as the world began grappling with the news of a deadly pandemic, teachers like myself were rapidly having to shift gears.
Steps That Must Be Taken to Ensure Personal Hygiene Among Students
Good personal hygiene is associated with various aspects of personality. Apart from creating health issues, poor personal hygiene practices can be detrimental to self-esteem and confidence. Therefore, a series of steps must be taken to ensure the overall development of a child. Some steps are mentioned below, which can be instrumental in providing a considerable boost to the health of a child.
Education certainly exhibits the quality of an individual’s life. It is the vital factor that shapes an individual and pushes their future in the right direction. With the advancement in technologies, every person can avail access to education irrespective of conditions. Now, it has become easier for people to sit at home and educate themselves. This has become possible with new education technology, Distance Learning Education. All schools including schools in Sharjah have started offering this education to their students.
